Cajun Food
For those who may not know, Cajun cooking dates back to the 18th century. It was developed by Cajun-Acadians who incorporated West African, French and Spanish culinary techniques into their original cuisine.
Cajun cuisine is sometimes referred to as "country cuisine," which means it's based on locally available ingredients and is relatively easy to prepare.
Cajun's cooking style is known around the world. Dishes are full of flavor as Cajun seasoning is a mixture of salt and various spices; however, there is a misconception that food is always spicy, while most of the time it is quite aromatic. Cooking methods include grilling, roasting, grilling, frying, etc. (Read more about Cajun cuisine here.)

The Cajun Spiced Chicken Burger was superb and juicy. They have the right amount of fat and are full of flavor. These burgers feature homemade Cajun seasoning and free toppings for the ultimate flavor.
The following recipe makes four burgers. To make a loaded Cajun chicken burger, start by making a basic Cajun mix.
For a basic Cajun mix, you will need:
● 1 tablespoon. Cumin Powder
● 1 tablespoon. minced coriander
● 1 tablespoon. spanish peppers
Note that the following spices are used in the traditional recipe; feel free to add some garlic powder, paprika, oregano, Spanish paprika, black pepper, and paprika depending on the occasion.
For the meatloaf you need:
● 1 pound chicken breast
NOTE: When making chicken burgers, we like to grind our own chicken to keep it fresh. Pre-ground chicken often comes with additives that you need to be aware of.
● 2 teaspoons olive oil
● 1 ¼ teaspoons kosher salt, divided
● ½ medium chopped onion
● 4 slices pepper jack cheese
Before you start:
Remember not to over-mix when cooking the burgers as this will cause them to become dense. Blend until everything is combined.
Wet your hands with cold water to help shape the pie. While we prefer pepper jack cheese, white cheddar, provolone, or co-jack cheese work well too.
Method:
Step 1
In a medium bowl, start by mixing the seasoning with a good mixture of black pepper and a pinch of salt. Stir thoroughly and set aside.
Step 2
Place chicken breasts in a food processor with a little oil and puree until all chicken is shredded, then add seasonings and onions. Just pulse until everything is combined. Be careful not to mix too much or you may end up with a chewy chicken burger.
While heating your pan, we prefer to use iron strips because it sticks well to any burger. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and brush with some olive oil.
Step 3
Form four equal sized patties and cook these chicken burgers! Bake them until golden and "blackened", about 4 minutes. Flip and grill until the other side is golden brown and the chicken is cooked through. If checked with a thermometer, the inside of the burger should be around 165 degrees.
After flipping the burger, place two slices of cheese on top. Pour a little water over the pan and cover, let it steam and melt the cheese.
Step 4
While the chicken is cooking, prepare the buns. You can cook them however you want. Ideally, you want to toast both sides of the bread after brushing with butter. Then we like to top it off with a fresh sliced avocado or a handful of spinach. Sprinkle with any free condiments like ranch dressing, mayonnaise, etc. You can also sprinkle with any sauce of your choice.
Step 5
Finally assemble your burger. Place the chicken patty in the center and lightly press the bread. Your burger is ready to eat.
The more the better!
While Cajun burgers can provide quality flavor on their own, they taste especially good with fries. Fries and burgers are an energetic pairing. That's because fries go so well with the condiments and sauces used on the burger, so for the most epic burger and fries combo; Try this little recipe with potatoes:
● Vegetable oil for frying (2 cups)
● 1 teaspoon chili powder
● ½ cup cold water
● 500 g potatoes
● black pepper
● 1 cup all-purpose flour
● 1 teaspoon garlic salt
● Moderate amount of salt
Method:
Cut potatoes into fries and place in cold water. This preserves freshness and color (without turning brown). Then heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Otherwise, in a large bowl, sift in the flour, garlic salt, table salt and chili powder, add water and knead into a dough. Then dip the potatoes into the batter and coat the bread thoroughly. Toss them into the heated oil one at a time, making sure there is space between the slices or they will clump together. Fry the fries until golden brown. Remove and blot dry with kitchen paper.
Your fries are ready to serve with the Cajun Chicken Burger.
